The Laboratory at Work

Comfortable Reception Area

We are open from 8am - 8pm and offer comfortable
patient reception facilities for all investigations

Unfortunately, we do all become ill at some point in our lives. Sometimes this may require a visit to your GP. The GP may require you to have a blood, urine or stool test so he/she can make a definite diagnosis and give the appropriate treatment.

Although this aspect of your medical care is extremely important, if you are a busy person then this can become inconvenient as you may need to visit the local hospital for these tests; this may result in a long wait. In addition, some tests can take days/weeks before the GP is notified of your result and this only adds to your anxiety.

We are now open to the general public*.   Why not put us to the test?  Where necessary, the laboratory can supply the appropriate specimen containers and sundries for special tests.

In addition, the laboratory can also supply postal packs with a prepaid envelope - just drop the envelope containing your specimens and request form into a post box and we will do the rest

Some tests that may be of interest to clients include:
  • (NEW) Trimethylaminuria (Fish Odour Syndrome)
  • (NEW) Ovarian Cancer Tumour Markers
  • Testing for Swine Flu
  • Prediabetes and Cardiac Health Checks
  • Group B Streptococcus
  • Tuberculosis (current or latent infection)
  • Smear Tests
  • Helicobacter Breath Tests
  • Diabetes Monitoring
  • MMR Immunity checks

  • Laboratory opening times are as follows:

An on-call service is available outside of these hours.

    *   Some tests may still require a request form or referral from a suitably qualified practitioner, eg Tumour markers, HIV tests, some of the more esoteric tests.  Please contact the laboratory on 01234 831115 for advice.
